Sperm Donor
Sperm donation is a generous act that helps individuals and couples achieve their dreams of parenthood

Oocyte Donor
Oocyte donation offers hope and the chance for families to experience the joy of parenthood through the gift of life.
Sperm Donor
A sperm donor is someone who provides sperm to a commissioning couple (indented parents). Donated sperm can be used by selected commissioning couple (intended parents) and single woman wanting to have a child. The procedure involves both a screening process for the donor and a collection process, ensuring safety and health for all parties.

Donor Selection and Screening
Before donating sperm, potential donors go through rigorous medical and psychological evaluations. These tests are essential to check for genetic disorders, infectious diseases (like HIV, hepatitis), and overall health conditions. They may also include a psychological assessment to ensure that the donor fully understands the implications of donation. Often, fertility clinics or sperm banks also check for lifestyle factors, family medical history, and personal characteristics to help recipient families make informed choices.
Donation Process
If a donor is approved, they are scheduled to provide a sperm sample. This process generally involves:
-
Sample Collection: The donor is given a sterile container and a private space to produce a semen sample, usually by masturbation.
-
Analysis and Cryopreservation: The semen sample is tested for sperm quality, including concentration, motility, and morphology. If it meets quality standards, the sample is frozen (cryopreserved) for future use.

Usage of Donor Sperm
The sperm is stored and quarantined for 6 months after which that donor is subjected to SEROLOGY Test as per the ART Law of India. Intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilization (IVF) are the most common methods of using donor sperm, where it is placed directly into a uterus or used in fertilizing an egg outside the body, respectively.
Legal and Anonymity Considerations
Legal considerations are as per the ART Law of India which may be amended from time to time. The commissioning couple (intended parents) are required to consult with our legal experts to understand their rights and limitations.
Oocyte Donor
An oocyte donor, or egg donor, is a woman who provides her eggs to the commissioning couple (intended parents) or a woman as per the ART Law of India. This option is often sought by women who cannot conceive with their own eggs due to age, premature ovarian failure, genetic disorders, or other health conditions. Egg donation is a more involved process than sperm donation, as it requires hormonal stimulation and a minor surgical procedure to retrieve the eggs.

-
Donor Selection and Screening: Potential egg donors undergo a comprehensive screening process, which includes:

-
Medical Evaluation: A full medical exam checks for reproductive health and other general health markers. Blood tests are conducted to screen for genetic conditions, infectious diseases (e.g., HIV, hepatitis), and hormone levels.

-
Psychological Evaluation: Donors meet with a counselor to discuss the emotional implications of donating and to ensure they are making an informed choice.

-
Lifestyle and Genetic History: Many clinics also assess the donor’s lifestyle, family medical history, and personal characteristics to help intended parents make informed choices.

Donation Process
Once selected, egg donors go through a preparation phase that includes hormonal treatment to stimulate egg production. The key steps are:

-
Ovarian Stimulation: The donor receives hormonal injections, typically for 10-14 days, to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple mature eggs. Throughout this period, the donor has regular ultrasounds and blood tests to monitor follicle development.
-
Egg Retrieval Procedure: Once the eggs are ready, a minor surgical procedure called transvaginal ultrasound aspiration is performed. Under light anesthesia, a specialist uses an ultrasound-guided needle to retrieve the eggs from the ovaries. The procedure generally takes 20-30 minutes, and the donor can usually go home the same day.
-
Recovery: Donors may experience mild discomfort after the retrieval, but they typically recover within a few days.
Usage of Donor Eggs
The eggs are then fertilized with sperm in a laboratory as part of an in vitro fertilization (IVF) process. If successful, the fertilized eggs (embryos) are implanted into the uterus of the intended mother or a gestational surrogate.
Legal and Ethical Considerations
Legal considerations are as per the ART Law of India which may be amended from time to time. The commissioning couple (intended parents) are required to consult with our legal experts to understand their rights and limitations.
